Deb, once again, you get the Pollo en Mole award. I'm surprised you didn't mention the little boy who was hailed as a hero* a few weeks ago for shooting to death with a handgun (pistol or revolver, I forget which) an overfed domestic hog. If I recall correctly, the boy was able to hold up the heavy .50 caliber handgun--the largest in the world--by himself and down the hog with a half dozen shots. Considering that a .50 can take out a couple of pounds of flesh with each hit, it must have been a bloody, if patriotic, scene.
*I use the word "hero" in its contemporary usage meaning celebrity rather than according to the ancient Greek usage meaning a brave* person who selfishly puts himself at great risk of physical harm or loss of life without personal benefit for a benign cause or to save another from harm. I use the word "brave" as meaning in spite of fear rather than without fear or simply more full of bravado than common sense. Louie

Louie deserves credit for being one of the first to question news about the most recent "Hogzilla" -- the half-ton, so-called "feral pig" he refers to above. It was shot and killed several weeks ago by a kid in Alabama -- to media acclaim and credulity, of course.

Louie was right: the pig was hardly feral. Instead, later, muted reports revealed that it was an overfed, probably hormone-stuffed, domestic animal, chased down on a commercial hunting preserve. The child "hunter's" family are evangelical Christians, and his dad posted a website drawing murky but excited connections between the kid's ability to shoot this poor, obese creature and the family's abiding faith in Jesus. Pix of the dead hog, the dead hog's hypertrophied skull, and the proud young crusader were plastered not just on the web site but in the media as well. Louie, I was going to do a separate piece on this, dedicated to you, but I've been too busy. Sorry! And thanks for writing!! -- Debbie

>>> And what if the porn was made in countries where 16 year olds are allowed to perform sexually? In such countries (there are many) no crime occurs when 16 or 17 year olds are filmed in sexual poses. But it’s against the law to webcast or otherwise distribute their images in the US, because our age of consent is 18.
